Board of Health Minutes 5/7/18

MONTEREY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES

Date:  May 7, 2018
Present:  John Makuc, Roy Carwile, Julio Rodriguez and Peter Kolodziej
Also present: John Szablowski

The meeting began at 4pm

  • Representatives from Hume came in to discuss their plans for their medical infirmary for the summer camp season.  Discussion ensued about the property and plans.  It was suggested that an alarm system be installed on the septic tank or a sign be hung that there are no available facilities to use in the nurses station.  If the tank were to be upgrade it should at least be doubled in size.
  • Hume commended Peter on his responsiveness and helpfulness during an emergency situation Hume had over the winter.
  • The Berkshire Visiting Nurse FY19 contract was signed.
  • The Board reviewed proposed septic plans for new construction on Steven’s Lake Way.  There were questions on the proposed septic and why it wasn’t designed for 5 bedrooms; Peter is going to call the engineer and inquire about this and submitting revised plans based on the size of the proposed house.
  • The Board discussed 40 Sylvan Rd and the Building Inspector’s concerns that when he went to inspect for the Certificate of Occupancy the owners had renovated the basement (which was not in the plans) and there were rooms that could be construed as bedrooms.  Peter spoke to the realtor and it is being listed as a 3 bedroom home.  Peter also spoke with the company that contracts for the septic maintenance and they could not confirm that there was a valid contract.
  • Peter informed the Board that he has been asked by the Select Board and the Highway Department to test the well at the highway department to meet the DEP requirements imposed for the old transfer station.
  • The next meeting will be Monday, May 21st at 4pm.
The meeting adjourned at 5:00pm
